Kathirimalai Hostel (Challenging Project)

 

Kathirimalai  is  a  very   remote     tribal village (+3500 ft MSL) in Erode district of TamilNadu. No access is so far provided to this tribal village, which is situated in a hill, one has to walk at least 9 km in the hill way boulders path with walking stick.

 

   

Donkeys are used for conveying all the needs of the people from the foot of the hills. The hostel building materials were conveyed to the spot by means of donkey and obtaining permissions by Reserved Forest  authorities.

 

 

No permanent structure was so far constructed till 'TAHDCO' gifted a neat finished RCC roof hostel which is a boon to the village people. In spite of lack of electricity, non availability of labors and poor climate the hostel building at an estimated cost of Rs 33.00 Lacks was constructed. The building has one floor with an area of 436.77 sq.m (4701 SQFT). There are rooms constructed with  toilet facilities  for the Tribal Students. A Separate Dining hall & Kitchen were also constructed. All the students from six nearby villages residing in this hostel are said to be prompt to their school.
